SWOT analysis on Meltex Textiles and Apparel Manufacturing

I chose AAE tasks this summer because I am a high school student who studies A-level business. And I wanted an opportunity to apply what I am studying to a real-life scenario.

Meltex Textiles and Apparel Manufacturing (MTA) is a clothing manufacturing company in Ethiopia owned by Melaku Yirdaw. MTA was established in 2010, and is one of the biggest cloth manufacturing companies in Ethiopia, which now is aiming to generate growth in the overseas market. This report will use the SWOT analysis method to analyze what MTA’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are.

1. Strength

MTA has a certificate on ISO 9001:2015, and operates a wide range of products, including overcoats, under wears, polo shorts, trousers, shirts, and aprons. In addition, they have a high production capacity of up to 930 cloth per day, which offers them a high market share in the local market. All these strengths help them to earn a high profit in the local market, as they could satisify most the business needs, lots of labours refers to huge demand, and provides a higher quality on their clothes.

  1. For any production to progress. there is need to maintain steady consumption. This can be achieved by having all necessary logistics and human resource to facilitate marketing. However most local manufacturers do not plan for marketing
