An entrepreneur may find it relevant to start a green business and protect the environment at the same time.
This could be a permanent solution to growing unemployment rate necessitated by COVID-19 pandemic.
While green money may not require much hard work, it is consistent with current consumers who prefer organic and natural produce. It also makes for good business opportunity! As it is said, necessity is the mother of invention
A friend of mine started an eco-venture. All he needed was land, a good landscaper and a keen eye for detail. His idea was organic event planning and catering.
Such has worked very well for garden events such as weddings and family get-togethers.
Canopies for shade
He used canopies for shade. Trees are planted in an order that allows for different sets. Old trees are cut and their stumps used to make decorations, seats and tables.
The trees were fruit-bearing, so the fruit were incorporated into meal for the guests. The trees attracted attract birds and butterflies that beautified the whole space.
Grass from mowing the lawn were used to make hay seats for the functions. The dry grass made decorative nests inside egg shells for actual bird eggs. It was artistic on camping and teambuilding grounds.
Flowers and vegetables
Flowers were planted in a pattern, elaborate arrangement and on the aisle and were used throughout their lifespan by planting those in season and those that suit the area’s climate.
The only challenge was when a wedding has specified a different type of flower as their theme but it wasn’t too much of an issue.
You can build such a place if your land is close to a river or not. If a river is nearby it would be useful as the river water would be dispensed for irrigation and sprinkling to maintain a green area all year long.
A bridge could also be built if the river flows within the compound, and a little landscaping around the river provides a good spot for photoshoot.
Those without a water source can make artificial water reservoirs such as ponds and dams.
Vegetables such as capsicum (green, red and yellow), coriander and arrowroots are brightly colored and/or beautifully shaped and could substitute flowers.
This serves both decorative and catering purposes. Such an approach is sustainable and ecologically friendly agriculture.
Abundance of organic resources
Ultimately, 80 percent of the total materials needed to make events and catering successful would not only be naturally grown, but also readily available. For an entrepreneur, this is a convenient and less stressful way of making money.
The availability of most resources in the garden reduces the cost of facilitation and therefore increases profit.
Now, you see. Green event planning and catering could generate money and initiate a cycle that keeps on giving, for nature as well as entrepreneurs and investors.
Other areas of green industry that entrepreneurs could venture into include among others, eco-friendly beauty salon, eco-consulting and green-housekeeping service.
