Overview
Young people cannot be left in this match to sustainable development. They own the future and are therefore enthusiastic about contributing to a better future for all. AAE’s approach to UN SDG Goal 12 (Responsible consumption and production) is to train young entrepreneurs on Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation. When young people learn entrepreneurship skills at an early stage, together with the ideals of sustainable development, they develop the essential skills and knowledge to become conscientious producers while mastering critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, innovation, communication, and teamwork. Moreover, they experiment with sustainability designs to build stronger empathy and connection through nature and help transform what the world does today.

It is a short drive east of Accra; Ghana’s capital city. En route to the world’s largest man-made lake at Akosombo and near to the Shai Hills Resource Reserve. Wide opengrass plains and a backdrop of hills, scattered trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers and epiphytes play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the kob, green monkey, spot-nose monkey and olive baboon. Visitors can enjoy the park’s cultural sites, picnic sites, campsites, climbing routes and the walking trails for hikers.
Abume is located in a valley and bordered to the east by the volta river. The primary occupations is fishing farming,
Youth unemployment is high and there is an overreliance on seasonal agriculture. Young people have limited educational opportunities until recently when a dilapidated school building was renovated in 2023 through a project of the Ghana National Youth Authority. However, there are no currently learning facilitators to help with it’s new Information and Communication Technology Center and with entrepreneurship skills.
